Newcomer to the franchise Don Cheadle will be playing the character alongside Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark. A longtime friend of Stark's, James Rhodes was a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel working for the State Department as a liaison to Stark Industries in its arms development capacity.

Beyond his official role, Rhodes is a good friend of the eccentric billionaire and one of the few people Stark can count on in an emergency. Immediately recognizing the versatility and power (not to mention fun) of the Iron Man suits, Rhodes was destined to don a suit of his own.
